AmeCon Policies
Thank you for taking an interest in our convention policies.
Since 2004 Amecon has been blessed with a community who have always tried to look after one another.
We have witnessed first hand the encouragement, kindness, and above all respect shown to newcomers and long time friends who continue to attend, support and share their love for our mutual interest in all things Japan, Manga and Animation.
It is our pleasure to host you all and our honour to be a small part of so many glorious, funny and yes sometimes even embarrassing memories. We learn so very much from your experience and feedback, which is why it is so important to us that we run these events right.
Since AmeChibi is an 18+ years event, we hope our attendees will hold themselves accountable for their behaviour as adults.
If an attendee is found in breach of our policies the AmeChibi committee are prepared to step in to protect the wellbeing and atmosphere of our community.

Below are some individual summaries of how we hope to run our event and what we expect of our members.
Cosplay & Props Policy
Summary:
- AmeChibi 2025 is held in a hotel, and areas such as the foyer and bar are likely to have members of the public around. Please be respectful and mindful of this.
- Please make sure your cosplays are appropriate to this kind of event. Explicit nudity, prohibited or intentionally inflammatory costumes or costume parts will not be accepted.
- If you show up in an inappropriate costume, you may be asked to change it to be appropriate or change back into street clothes.
- Even if your costume is appropriate as a whole, if it is too large, cumbersome or spiky, you may not be able to access particularly busy or space-constrained parts of the event such as the Bring And Buy.
- Props should be safe and appropriate. No live steel edged weapons, no firearms (even deactivated) or replica imitation firearms.
- Whenever you leave the event, be careful that your costume won’t cause any trouble. If you have props that might get you in trouble, you can leave them at Convention Operationss or the Cosplay Workshop and we’ll look after them for you!
- Some exceptions may be made for the masquerade, subject to approval and judgement of the Committee. If you’re not sure, you can contact us via the contact form on the website, or on the day you can stop by the Cosplay Workshop and ask!
Photography & Media Policy
Summary:Â
- Please ask permission before taking any photographs. Cosplayers are not your props. If someone says no, you should not take the photo, no matter how amazing their accuracy, craftsmanship or character portrayal.
- Sections of the event may be filmed or streamed online by the event staff and the images and footage may be used in the marketing of future events.
- If you do not wish to be filmed or photographed by AmeCon please notify Convention Operations, or speak to a gopher at the event who will be able to find someone to help you.
- If you represent a media organisation and want to report on us, please let us know in Convention Operations first.
Safety, Anti-harassment and Bullying Policy
Summary:
- Harassment or abuse to anyone at any AmeCon event is unacceptable.
- Failure to comply with this policy may result in your membership being revoked and being asked to leave the event.
AmeChibi, and the Amecon Committee, are based in the UK and are governed by the laws of the UK.
Our events focus on Anime, Manga and games from Japan, the fandom, community and industry surrounding them.
It is important to us that we have a good relationship with the anime and games industries.
As such, we do not condone or endorse any unlawful conduct or behaviour at our event, particularly concerning copyright and licensing.
The committee reserves the right to revoke your membership and ask you to leave if you are found committing any unlawful act at an Amecon event, particularly if that action would impact the safety or comfort of other attendees, staff or guests.
